What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (or CBD), is an amazing plant extract that has been used for medicinal
purposes going back a millennia. CBD is 1 of at least 113 cannabinoids extracted from a proprietary strain of the hemp plant, not to be mistaken for marijuana. In layman's terms, Cannabidiol is a non-toxic, non-euphoric substance that does not make our customers feel "high", or "stoned". CBD works synergistically with the naturally occurring systems of the human body, resulting in non-existent opportunities for over dosing. Cannabis is the genus name for both hemp and marijuana, and the term itself is not necessarily interchangeable with marijuana. In fact, almost all CBD produced today comes from industrial hemp, which contains negligible amounts of THC, the cannabinoid responsible for causing what's referred to as a "high". We completely remove all traces of THC for our Broad Spectrum tinctures, to ensure zero chances of a positive drug result.
Broad Spectrum CBD
Broad-spectrum CBD contains several cannabis plant compounds, but it is typically entirely free of THC. Quirky Leaf broad spectrum CBD contains absolutely zero THC.
Full Spectrum CBD
Full-spectrum CBD has numerous cannabinoid compounds from the cannabis plant, along with low levels of THC (usually less than 0.3% on a dry weight basis).

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex system in the human body that is involved in regulating a wide range of physiological and biochemical processes, including pain, mood, appetite, sleep, and memory. The ECS is made up of endocannabinoids (cannabinoids produced by the body), cannabinoid receptors, and enzymes that help to break down the endocannabinoids.

The two main cannabinoid receptors in the ECS are CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily found in the central nervous system, while CB2 receptors are primarily found in the immune system. When endocannabinoids bind to cannabinoid receptors, they can help to regulate various physiological processes. The ECS plays a role in maintaining homeostasis, or balance, in the body. It is thought that imbalances in the ECS may contribute to certain health conditions. Some researchers believe that CBD and other cannabinoids found in the hemp or cannabis plant have therapeutic potential by interacting with the ECS and helping to restore balance.
